Killester college is an excellent place to begin the vital steps on your professional career pathway. I completed the pre-university course in Science during 2013-2014 and highly recommend the College for a variety of reasons. The obvious benefits of this particular course is the actual science content of the syllabus, what is not obvious until you have experienced Killester College are the skills, knowledge, compassion and dedication of the teachers. Expect not only to get an excellent grounding in the core Science subjects of Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Maths but also begin to appreciate the level of work that is expected at third level. I feel a massive debt of gratitude to the the teachers of these subjects Orla, Bernadette and Rosaleen along with Joan the Careers Guidance Counsellor. Without all their dedication, expertise and encouragement, I would not have achieved the level of success that I achieved. The college is managed in a very positive yet efficient manner under the highly experienced Rory O'Sullivan, who is both academically focused yet compassionate to the students’ needs. In summary, choose Killester college for your educational adventure, work hard and know that you have some of the best teachers in the country to support you on your journey. I studied as a Veterinary Assistant in Killester College of Further Education in 2010/11. During my time in Killester I found that further education can actually be fun, when applied with the right levels of commitment and determination. The course covered a wide range of modules, which gave me a vast knowledge of appropriate animal care. During the year, I took part in a work placement programme, which was extremely beneficial to my understanding of the industry. Through hard work and dedication, I was offered a job as a Veterinary Assistant through my work placement, commencing upon graduation from Killester College. After working for over a year with this veterinary practice I was encouraged to aim higher and return to university. I am currently studying BSc (Hons) Bio veterinary Sciences in the Royal Veterinary College, University of London. This course offers me a degree in research biology and has a remarkable reputation and international accreditation. On completion of this degree, I also have the option to advance to study accelerated Veterinary Medicine. Killester College was an extremely important stepping stone and has opened multiple doors for me… Without the help of Killester College’s outstanding staff and resources, such as Moodle, I would not have achieved what I have today.Read More
Making the decision to go to Killester College to study Cultural and Heritage Studies was one of the best decisions I ever made. After my Leaving Certificate didn't go to plan I never thought I would have the opportunity to study in college. Killester College gave me a second chance and thanks to them I am now going to UCD studying Greek, Latin and Roman Civilisation. Everyone was 100% supportive of myself and my peers and because of this I now have the opportunity to broaden my education in university. We were taken to many beautiful locations and were given opportunities to work with some outstanding people during our time out on work experience. I cannot thank the staff of Killester College enough for all they have done for me. 2013-14Read More

I always loved biology and wanted to study it at 3rd level but unfortunately for me the points were just so high!I got into KCFE and didn't know what it was going to hold, I wasn't too sure if I was being a complete snob and felt too good to be doing a PLC or I was so nervous about the prospect of leaving my native Meath and moving to Dublin for college.Within a week I knew it was the place for me!
Instantly I clicked with my class because we all loved science and there was only 26 of us compared to your average 300 student lecture theatre so we were going to have learn to love each other whether we liked it or not.The education side of things is done on a level between LC and 3rd level which has major positives and the college itself is happy and warm with smiling faces always about. I loved my time at KCFE mostly however because of the people, I met some remarkable individuals over my year there and some of whom I can honestly say are friends for life!If you were like me and love science and just need that little helping step to 3rd, KCFE is the place to go! 2015 UCD Science
As they say, "a smooth sea never make a skillful sailor", well my sailor days in Killester College are gone, but I cannot leave without thanking you all. It has been a pleasure to be in your classes, and I have truly enjoyed and learned lots.
Your support and guidance throughout the entire course has been amazing and for that I'm grateful and thankful to you all.
My time in college has been incredibly rewarding, quite challenging at times, but I would have not achieved so much satisfaction otherwise. Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations, so let's hope I can carry on with my travels for a little longer... 2018

After doing my placement all year several jobs opened up for summer with one permanent position and 2 temporary. I did a panel interview halfway through my level 6 exams and the day my exams finished I got a call to say I had gotten the permanent position!!!
So I'm on a permanent contract as a GA1.
I've been in every section over the last few months but I'm predominantly on the farm and in zoorassic reptile house at the minute and do my weekends on the African plains. I'm over the moon. 2018Read More

Changed my life!
I attended Killester College in 2014 to study level 5 Animal Care, as a (very) mature student. During my time there I was first introduced to Chemistry and Biology. The lecturers in the college were fantastic and encouraged me every step of the way.
Due to the skills that I learnt in Killester, I was accepted to IT Tralee, where I am currently doing a B.Sc in Wildlife Biology. Thank you Joan, for telling me about this course, it ticks every possible box. This summer I am on a work placement in the Education Centre in Tayto Park, and I get to bring students on Ecology field surveys and bring visitors around the zoo.
September 2018 will be my final year in Tralee, and if it wasn't for my time studying Animal Science, I would not be doing what I love. Thanks to one and all in Killester.Read More

I found the Killester College “Culture and Heritage” course a great help. As a mature student It gave me the confidence I needed, in helping me get back into education. The course and modules also prepared me very well in applying and attending interviews. I also learned so much about Irish Culture and Heritage during the time I was on the course. 2014Read More

I am actually working as a veterinary nurse now in the UCD Veterinary Hospital which is great but bizarre at the same time. Having completed the pre-university science course in killester college in 2014/15, I cannot speak highly enough of the college and staff. The teachers, the modules and the career guidance were great and helped a lot. I obtained my first choice, physiology and health science in IT Carlow, and the subjects I studied in killester have made this year easier.
I can honestly say I wouldn't be where I am today without all the help and support they gave me throughout the year.Read More
