Sometimes a lack of confidence or a previous negative experience can prevent learners from taking that first step back into college. Adults have many different motivations for returning to learning. With that in mind, we have designed a programme that aims to boost self-confidence through learning a range of new subjects.
ACE is a TASTER type programme which will provide learners with a broad range of skills and knowledge prior to making decisions about progression to more specific programmes such as Animal Science, Cultural and Heritage studies, Business etc. The programme is a wonderful way to return to learning with a focus on new challenges, enjoyable team tasks and lots of new and interesting knowledge – all in a supported environment.
How will I learn?
This 14 hour programme will provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to work in a broad range of jobs or to progress onto a choice of Level 5 programmes here in Killester (subject to satisfactory results). Students will learn about different cultures, examine topics related to animal welfare, discuss lifestyle in the context of food and nutrition, learn up-to-date IT skills as well as completing tasks, assignments and projects in teams and individually.
What will I study?
The programme components include:
Food and Nutrition
How will I be assessed?
A full award is granted on passing the eight components, however component awards are issued upon successful assessment of individual subjects. You will be assessed throughout and at the end of the year. On successful completion of each component, you will be awarded a Pass, a Merit or a Distinction grade.
What we would like from you!
The programme is particularly suited to people who wish to get back into a structured learning setting on a part-time basis.
